Foundations Memory Master Resources
This article provides resources for both Classical Conversations® Memory Master, as well as the Classical Conversations® National Memory Master Competition.
Who is a Classical Conversations® Memory Master?
A Classical Conversations® Memory Master is a child registered in a Classical Conversations® Foundations community who has memorized 100% of the current year’s memory work as found in the Classical Conversations® Foundations Curriculum, Fifth Edition; recited 100% of that information to one of his or her parents and tutor; and completed a spot check by his or her Foundations director.
What is the purpose of Memory Master?
The purpose of Memory Master is to encourage and reward demonstrations of excellence in subject memorization and recitation, which are two skills that will serve students well along their educational journeys.
The Memory Master Guide is a great resource to help parents prepare with their student/s to Memory Master. It can be utilized both at home and in community. For a copy of this resource, reach out to your Foundations director!
What is National Memory Master?
In 2016, Leigh Bortins, founder of Classical Conversations®, created the National Memory Master competition. This competition encompasses all three cycles of our Foundations Memory Work, including Math, English, Latin, Timeline, History, Science, and Geography strands. The purpose of Memory Master is to encourage and reward demonstrations of excellence in subject memorization and recitation, which are two skills that will serve students well along their educational journeys. Students from all across the United States compete to be a finalist at our Championship held in North Carolina and have a chance to earn the $10,000 grand prize of National Memory Master. We continue this tradition, giving the title of National Memory Master to a new student each school year.
